Srecko "Stretch" Railic, the interior trim carpenter, will be here for at least a couple of weeks putting up doors, trim and cabinets

We chose to have the windows "trimmed out" rather than "drywall wrapped". First some existing marble sills were removed. Then extension jambs were added. These are strips of trim that extend the window frame inward, flush with the drywall, so that decorative trim can be mounted on them.

Stretch has two neat little "tables" with pivoting surfaces that support the looooonnnng pieces of trim on either side of the saw platform

...and that's Stretch. He proved to be as photogenic as Mike Eger.

Quite the pile of fine sawdust. Lots more to come.

The nifty wood adhesive used to fasten mitred trim joints. The adhesive squeezes on, the activator sprays on -- and in 30 seconds the joint is rock-solid. Worse than SuperGlue to get off skin.

Cement board is the foundation for all three tile floors -- bathrooms and laundry. This is the second bathroom.

Another look at the tile components

12" x 24" tile for the shower. The "fin pan" is the frame for a wall niche to hold soap and shampoo.

18" x 18" tile for the master bath floor, and sheets of 2" x 2" tile for the shower floor

In addition to being used underneath cement board, tile adhesive was used on top of some of the cement-board areas to compensate for out-of-level sections inherent in the original structure

Cement board is also fastened on the shower walls. Joints are finished with bubblegum-pink sealant.

That's Paul, who works for Eric the tile guy (Eric did the kitchen backsplash in our current home). Paul will lay the tile floors, and Eric and his brother Ivan will do the shower enclosure and glass trim strip.
