Golden Circle Region
Our last full day was in a different part of Iceland: a scenic loop to the east of Reykjavik called the Golden Circle. It is a major tourist and tour-bus route.
"The name Golden Circle or “Gullni hringurinn” in Icelandic refers to the route from Reykjavik to Thingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss which are the highlights of the route and back to Reykjavik and make it a circle. The Gold in the name comes from “Gullfoss” which literally means Golden Waterfall."
The day began with an impulse stop to visit some Icelandic Horses. Photo destinations were Faxifoss, Geysir and Gullfoss. Somewhere among those was a delightful lunch at the Efstidalur farm, a working dariy operation. Of COURSE there was ice cream for dessert!
