Thursday - Fortress Hohensalzburg
Thursday morning offered a choice of touring of the Hohensalzburg Fortress or shopping in the Christmas Market.
The fortress was built by the Archbishops of Salzburg, and is among the largest medieval castles in Europe. Building began in 1077 and continued in various phases through the 1600s.
Our schedule didn't allow time to tour the residential areas of the fortress, but what we did see was fascinating!
