Friday - Oberammergau
On Friday the band boarded buses for the two-hour drive from Salzburg to Oberammergau. A rest stop en route offered a bounty of regional foods, beverages and souvenirs. The actions of its ultra-modern self-cleaning commodes made their way into several cellphone videos. Roadside and alpine scenery were lovely, despite heavy overcast.
After arriving in Oberammergau, tour members had time to sightsee, shop and lunch on their own until the afternoon rehearsal.
Oberammergau lies in a picturesque alpine valley. In addition to the famous Passion Play, it is known for woodcarving and beautifully-decorated buildings.
